I started with a pencil sketch colored in Photoshop, and worked with a very stable triangle composition while wrestling with trying to have a dark insect read on a dark dress. It almost ended up a full digital painting, but I decided to limit myself to only three to four tones to keep a graphic, cell-shaded feel.
